Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland /// Musikakademie, Stuttgart, Germany

The beginning of the story of Alice in Wonderland serves as theme for a showcase at the Music Academy, the showcase itself being five meters high and about two and a half meters wide. In order to utilise the full space, top and bottom are inverted. The actual display resembles a stage setting. With time being a major theme in the book, the unfolding of the story is depicted chronologically in the horizontal, as well as in the vertical dimension. The different parts of the backdrop make sense only in context, with each side communicating with the other: front to back, left to right. Depending on viewpoint, the story can be read differently.
